So, it is an absolutely beautiful day. I feel so content laying in my bed, windows wide opened, feeling the cool breeze and listening to pretty lights.

Not Much to say on the job front. Have been applying in spurts. Wish I could do something further with C&E or social media, but it does not seem like that will be too likely.

Electric Feel

So the other day at my internship, I did some research about using video games to promote social/environmental issues. There are a lot of documentaries that are taking this a step further and promoting their film as well as the social/environmental issues. Seems like a pretty interesting concept to me.

Of course I am always critical of how effective this will be as a tool because I believe eventually it will phase itself out... As games become the norm and then what happens? are you twittering, facebooking, emailing whatever you chose to get an audience for the game for a possible audience to the film?

Still, I think its a pretty ingenious idea. Basically because it is so simple. It takes advantage of the fact that most people won't pick up a book about a social issue, or even sit through a 60 minute documentary.. but play a game on facebook. HELL yeah!. so sad but true.

One of the films that Chicken and Egg gave a grant to was Garbage Dreams.. and they just happen to have a game that my boyfriend and I played for about 3 hours last night. Yes we are super competitive. However, I was really surprised to learn that Cairo recycles about 80% of their waste. That is pretty incredible!!

So the upside to not being paid is that i get to learn about social/environmental issues. and get to do some research (though that is few and far between). The downside is that I could probably just shut my brain off and do almost everything I am asked to do. I dont think i am cut out for office work. google docs/excel spreadsheets make my eyes hurt. SO sad. To Bad.

• Potato Republic in New City nice fresh food
  
• The Marchmount Pub in London.. yummy falafels
  
• The Union in Haverstraw.. out of place but delicious.
